Garmin has a product called MapInstall and MapManager for the Mac software version 2.1.3 as of January 5, 2010 Download (21.24 MB) It’s similar to Garmin Mapsource. Very similar to Linux. The difference is that the Garmin device is automatically mounted into the /Volume path instead of “/mnt/gps” (or whatever). Garmin MapManager is used to load the map onto your Mac. Garmin BaseCamp is used to view the map your Mac. Download and Install Garmin MapInstall and MapManager for Mac. Download the Mac version of the California Trail Map. Double click on the downloaded map file CaliforniaTrailMap.gmapi; MapManager launches and the map installation box appears. Garmin BaseCamp (Mac & Windows) is the current mapping program for use with all Garmin GPS units. It has replaced Garmin MapSource in recent time. It has replaced Garmin MapSource in recent time. In this tutorial we will help you decide if the map is easily loaded into BaseCamp and then how to open the map and see it in BaseCamp.
